In a firm and unambiguous declaration, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today vowed exemplary punishment for those responsible for sending threatening emails concerning the revered Sri Harmandir Sahib, terming the act an "unpardonable crime against the sanctity of faith."

After paying obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Harmandir Sahib, the Chief Minister addressed the media, stating, “This sacred place is visited by people from across the globe, who come here to seek divine blessings for the well-being and prosperity of their families. Under no circumstances can such a revered shrine be subjected to any form of intimidation.”

The Chief Minister assured that the state government is meticulously investigating the matter and that credible leads have already emerged. He confirmed that the Punjab Police have successfully identified the suspects, and scientific authentication of evidence is underway. Once validated, comprehensive details shall be made public.

Mr Mann reiterated the unwavering commitment of the state administration towards safeguarding this spiritual heritage, which witnesses the devotion of lakhs of pilgrims each day. He added that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has also been approached for any information it may wish to share in connection with the incident.

Emphasising heightened vigilance, the Chief Minister revealed that security in and around the holy city has already been intensified. “The situation is under strict surveillance, and any attempts to disrupt communal harmony or instil fear shall be met with swift and uncompromising action,” he said.

Appealing to devotees to remain calm and undeterred, Mr Mann offered reassurance that the Punjab Police is fully prepared and capable of neutralising such threats. He stated emphatically that no culprit, irrespective of their location—“be it within the country or abroad”—shall escape the long arm of justice.

He further affirmed, “This is not merely a matter of law and order; it is a moral obligation for the state government to preserve the spiritual and communal sanctity of Punjab. There shall be no leniency for those who seek to sow discord.”

During his visit, Chief Minister Mann bowed his head at Sri Harmandir Sahib and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity and progress of the state. He expressed optimism that Punjab would continue to uphold the ethos of communal harmony, social unity, and brotherhood, asserting that the state is poised to lead the nation in multiple domains.
