IAS Sakshi Sawhney : A Trailblazer in Service and Leadership - Says Parshant Chohan
Today, I had the privilege of meeting IAS Sakshi Sawhney, a dynamic 2014 batch officer and the first female Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar. It fills us with immense pride that she has been appointed to lead in this sacred city. Upon her arrival, Ms. Sawhney has already begun working at the grassroots level, conducting regular meetings with officials to ensure progress. One of the most commendable steps she has taken is activating and updating the official social media accounts of the DC Amritsar office, showcasing every significant development. Her work ethic and dedication are truly inspiring, and the fact that she became an IAS officer at the age of 24 motivates us all. Before taking charge in Amritsar, Ms. Sawhney served as the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana and Patiala, and has held key positions such as Additional Secretary (Coordination) and Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary of Punjab. She also worked as Additional Deputy Commissioner in Bathinda and Mohali. Her professional journey, marked by honesty and integrity, continues to inspire many. Ms. Sawhney’s remarkable achievements, including securing the 6th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam, speak volumes about her dedication. A law graduate, she comes from a family of achievers—her father being a former IRS officer, her mother a school principal, and her sister a banker. We wish Ms. Sawhney continued success and happiness for her and her family as she leads Amritsar towards greater heights.
