Patiala, Punjab – With meteorological forecasts signalling the likelihood of continued heavy rainfall over the next two days, the District Administration of Patiala, under the stewardship of Deputy Commissioner Ms. Preeti Yadav, IAS, has issued a comprehensive advisory urging the public to exercise heightened vigilance and precautionary measures.
In her statement, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the pressing need for citizens to avoid venturing close to rivers, rivulets, ponds and embankments, while particular caution must be exercised to ensure that children remain at a safe distance from waterlogged areas and reservoirs. Such directives, she remarked, are indispensable in order to forestall mishaps during the monsoon’s unpredictable course.
To ensure preparedness, Ms. Yadav convened an online meeting with Sub-Divisional Magistrates and senior officials of the Municipal Council, instructing them to maintain round-the-clock vigilance within their respective jurisdictions. Special emphasis was laid upon ensuring the swift drainage of accumulated rainwater, so as to minimise public inconvenience and safeguard against flooding.
Reassuring the public, the Deputy Commissioner affirmed that the District Administration is on high alert and remains operational on a 24-hour basis to respond to exigencies. Simultaneously, she directed health and civic authorities to intensify awareness campaigns regarding seasonal illnesses that typically proliferate during the rainy spell, advising residents to adopt preventive health practices and sanitation measures.
This advisory reflects the administration’s commitment not only to disaster mitigation but also to the well-being of the populace at large, emphasising a proactive approach in the face of climatic unpredictability.
